Adansonia has an extremely skilled investment team with over 100 years of combined experience, including more than 40 years of combined portfolio management experience and 20 years of managing global equity portfolios. The team consists of proven portfolio managers and analysts, each with successful careers as institutional investors that are highly regarded in their respective fields of expertise. The team has strong and complimentary skill sets and has proven it has the attributes to successfully employ the investment process.
Tony Huntley
Chief Investment Officer
Tony has over 30 years’ experience in financial markets. Tony was previously the Chief Investment Officer at Mutual Trust, a leading Australian multi-family office. Over his seven years at Mutual Trust (2009-2016), funds under management (FUM) increased from less than $100m to over $1.5bn, while Mutual Trust’s two core products, Australia and International Equities’ Model Portfolios delivered top quartile and decile performance respectively, since their inception (>5years). Prior to this Tony was an Analyst / Portfolio Manager at Contango Asset Management; and, before that, founded and co-managed an ASX listed VC fund, Citadel Pooled Development from 1997 until its conclusion in 2004. Tony commenced his career as a sell-side Analyst at McCaughan Dyson stockbrokers in 1984, and held various positions in broking both in Australia and the U.K., before moving to the buy-side in 1995. Tony has a Masters of Entrepreneurship & Innovation from Swinburne University.
Ric Ronge
Head of Investments
Ric has over 25 years’ experience in financial markets. Ric was formerly a Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of the Pengana Global Resources Fund, a long-short Fund that outperformed its benchmark by a gross 11.8% pa over more than 9 years. Prior to this he was a long only Investment Manager and Analyst at County/Invesco for over ten years, co-managing the ASX Core Fund and Lead Manager of the ASX Listed Property Trust (LPT) Fund from 2003. When he finished at Invesco in 2005, the ASX Core Fund was top quartile over one, three and five years and the ASX LPT Fund was top quartile over one and three years. In addition, Ric has over four years’ experience as a rated stock-broking analyst at Swiss Bank Corporation Australia as well as Burdett Buckeridge and Young, covering the gold sector and small miners. Ric is a trained geologist/geophysicist and has industry experience as a Senior Executive at GRD Ltd and OceanaGold, and as a petroleum geophysicist. He has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Bachelor of Economics from Monash University.
Mike Macrow
Advisory Council
Mike was a leading sell-side Australian bank equities analyst with Citigroup, McIntosh and Merrill Lynch for 20 years. Over this time, Mike was consistently rated in the top 5 Banking Analysts in Australia. While at Citigroup (2000-2005), Mike headed up Financial Services and Banks equity research, managing a team of three. Prior to broking he worked in the bank regulation areas of the Reserve Bank of Australia. Mike commenced his career in funds management at Invesco in 2005, where he was responsible for Financials and Infrastructure and assisted in Invesco achieving an A rating from the asset consultant Van Eyk. In 2007, Mike moved to Guild Insurance Capital Asset Management which had a research association with CP2. Over his three years at Guild, Mike covered a range of stocks including banks, property and infrastructure, contributing to the fund generating outperformance of 3% p.a. Mike has a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from the University of Adelaide, an MBA from the University of Sydney and is a Fellow of the Securities Institute of Australia.
